2009 Roadway Improvement Project
Each year Metro budgets for and completes approximately $250,000 of roadway repairs. Metro works with engineering consultants and paving contractors to develop a Pavement Management assessment (PM). The PM survey analyzes and provides an inventory of all the roadways maintained by the District within Castle Pines Village. The PM analysis includes data about the age of the roadways, the type of construction method, and a visual inspection of the roadway. The program then takes the information and rates the roads on a Pavement Condition Index (PCI). The index goes from 0 (no pavement condition) to 100 (a new, fully constructed roadway). It is important to note that the index is not a percentage.
Metro's goal is to retain all of its maintained roads at an 85 index or above condition on the PCI scale. Metro staff members and engineers review and update the PM each year. Roads that fall under the 85 index condition are identified and our team completes an improvement design to prepare a bid package for roadway contractors.
The 2009 bid has been awarded for this year and the following roads are scheduled to receive some repairs:
- Castle Pines Drive North from Crown Point to Equinox (asphalt overlay)
- All of Mirage Drive (asphalt overlay)
- Equinox up from Country Club Parkway (asphalt overlay)
- Ridge Drive and Orofino Place (some concrete replacement)
- Gate 4 Reconstruction (asphalt overlay)
- Portions of the Park and Recreation trails (new asphalt and some asphalt overlay)
- Filing 27 Phase II (asphalt overlay)
These repairs will take place between 8/26 to 9/30, weather permitting. Traffic control will be provided by the contractor. The goal is to keep one lane of traffic open at all times. However, due to our Village roadways, the contractor may need to briefly close a road to move their equipment. PLEASE DRIVE CAREFULLY IN THESE WORK AREAS for your safety and the safety of the workers. If you have any questions, please contact Metro at 303-688-8330.
