Irrigation Efficiency Analysis
Frequently Asked Questions (FAQs)
If you live anywhere west of the Mississippi, you know that water rights are like gold. Castle Pines Metro District understands this challenge. Currently, our District is 100% reliant on non-renewable groundwater resources. Eighty percent of water usage in the District is through irrigation. We have a great opportunity to optimize our current irrigation systems through efficiency analysis. Typical water savings from an optimized irrigation system can yield up to 30% savings. We project Village-wide savings of 100 million gallons per year, when fully implemented over the next few years.
The Castle Pines Metropolitan District, in collaboration with Village residents participating in the Resident Water Committee (Committee), has developed a multi-year Water Efficiency Plan – Vision 2025 – to chart a path forward that reduces our reliance on Colorado’s non-renewable groundwater.
To further this plan, the District has contracted with Irrigation Analysis, LLC, to perform Irrigation Efficiency Analyses for the homes within the District to support water efficiency.
We recognize that this is a new initiative, and you may have questions. We have answers. Our goal of this process to create a positive experience for you and your household. We have outlined the most common questions for you.
What is the purpose of an Irrigation Efficiency Analysis?
An Irrigation Efficiency Analysis is an evaluation of the property’s irrigation system to determine whether any improvements can be made to improve water use efficiency while maintaining the healthy and beautiful landscape that has been a hallmark of the Village since its inception.
Do I need to do anything for the Irrigation Efficiency Analysis?
Yes (but not much)! You will need to sign up for an Irrigation Efficiency Analysis (information on how to sign up is provided below). Then, all that is needed is permission for Irrigation Analysis, LLC, and its employees access to your property to assess the existing irrigation system. If your irrigation controller is located within the home, Irrigation Analysis will need access to the controller, and we ask that you schedule a time when you are at home to give the analyst access to the panel.
What happens during an Irrigation Efficiency Analysis?
Analysts from Irrigation Analysis, LLC, will start and run every working zone within your irrigation system. The analyst will collect data about the condition and efficiency of each zone. The results of the collected data will, then, be compiled into a report that will be shared with the homeowner.
What will I receive at the end of an Irrigation Efficiency Analysis?
You will receive a report with information on your existing irrigation system and with suggestions on how to use less water. These improvements may be eligible for a rebate through the CPMD Homeowner Water Efficiency Rebate Program. More information on the CPMD rebate program can be found at https://bit.ly/cpmdrebateform .
Who do I contact if an issue is discovered with my irrigation system?
The District is currently developing a list of approved irrigation professionals. This list will be provided to you once it is finalized. You may also call an irrigation professional of your choice.
How much will an Irrigation Efficiency Analysis cost me?
There is no charge to the homeowner for this analysis. The cost of this analysis is part of the Castle Pines Metro District multi-year water efficiency plan as a good faith effort that homeowners will complete the proposed water efficiency upgrades recommended by the report to aid the Water Efficiency Plan – Vision 2025.
Who will receive an Irrigation Efficiency Analysis?
While this program is open to all residents in the District, we are rolling it out in a phased approach over several years. That means that your neighbor may be in a different phase than you are, but you should not be concerned. We are simply offering these to 75 to 150 homes at a time. We will get to you, we promise! If you have not been notified that it is your turn, please watch your mailbox. We will notify each homeowner individually, starting in mid-July. The notification will include information on how to sign-up for an Irrigation Efficiency Analysis.
How do I sign up for an Irrigation Efficiency Analysis?
When it is your turn, we will provide you a link to sign up for an Irrigation Efficiency Analysis. You will be able to sign up for a day and time that fits your schedule.
